Episode o2: Abuela Camila (Part 2)
In our second episode, we continue our ancestry journey with our great-great-grandmother Abuela Camila. She lived in the late 1800s in Morovis, Puerto Rico, located in the northern-central part of the island. In episode one, we explored the documents that we discovered via the US Census archive and learned she had lost several children due to disease and unfortunate accidents.
For over a hundred years, our families worked on fincas (farms) and lived off the land. Abuela Camila was a stern, yet fair woman as a farmer, medicine woman, wife, and mother to sixteen children. Through loss and turmoil, her stoic demeanor showed the world that suffering should not define women; it must make them stronger
